Hunter S Thompson tells of a world outside of that which most of us live. It his world of drugs and the effects that it has upon himself and his attorney. Given the incredible self-indulgence of these characters it would be tempting to condemn them but there is something in their contrast with the more conformist characters that made this book one I could not put down. I am still wondering what was the American Dream.

I really struggled to enjoy this book. It wasn't awful but it really wasn't my cup of tea. Interesting enough not to get just 1 star though, I've read worse.

An interesting read. The characters are interesting and strange. Drugs and alcohol rule in this book.
