This is Jane Austen's last adult novel, and one well worth reading.
Anne Elliot was engaged to a naval officer but broke off the engagement due to a friend convincing her that it was not a good match. Eight years later Anne still regrets that decision, and when her former fiance' comes back as a successful sea captain she is not sure what to do or if he still cares for her. The reader is led through an interesting story of relationships, misunderstandings, and nervous encounters. Captivating story.
