A little girl and her father are separated when he goes to war and places her in a girls' boarding school. She being well-to-do is treated royally, but when a report comes that her father was killed she is relegated to being a poor servant. She does her best to stay cheerful through the cruelty, and one morning something amazing happens.

I read this to my seven-year-old daughter--a first time for both of us and it was wonderful!!

I fell in love with this book after reading just a few chapters, I remained in love all the way through. This book is perfect for reading in bed on a cold night whilst drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows!
