The stories are engaging and classic, well worth reading.

The Sherlock Holmes stories are fascinating - if you can get past Doyle's frequent use of the word "singular", that so many of the women in his stories were "very beautiful", that many of his characters "started violently" or "turned pale", and so on. Regardless of all that these old classic mysteries are quite enjoyable.
