This is the story of a little girl named Fern who loved a little pig named Wilbur and of Wilbur's dear friend, Charlotte A. Cavatica, a beautiful large grey spider. With the unlikely help of Templeton the rat, and a wonderfully clever plan of her own, Charlotte saves the life of Wilbur, who by this time has grown up to be quite a pig.A time-honoured classic favourite.

It's been years since I read this book. What I remember is that Charlotte the spider seemed to be very loved and had much respect from the animals on the farm. The little girl in the story loves the animals and saves a little pig. Later her father, the farmer, was going to slaughter the pig, but Charlotte cleverly spins a message in her web and opinions change. The ending is very sad but it's a very good story.

A wonderful tale of friendship and compassion, and the importance of never judging a book by its cover.
